Cannon Falls City Map...

First laid out in 1855, Cannon Falls became a pioneer milling center using the water power of the Little Cannon and Cannon Rivers, and an important stop on area stage coach lines.  Trouble struck in 1884 and 1887 when fires devastated the downtown area, with the latter destroying 27 businesses.  The rebuilding that followed, mostly with brick and stone, is what you see today in the well developed, attractive, small town main street.

The City of Cannon Falls has constructed a trail system from downtown, through its major parks, to the Cannon Valley Trail.  The major access for both trails is downtown, one block west of the stoplight at Highways 20 and 19.  A secondary, and recommended ski access, is at the Ballfields, along the Cannon River.  Self-purchasc stations are found at both.  The town offers a complete range of services and facilities.  A walking guide brochure is available locally.
